Chelsea and Newcastle United are both moving for the signing of Athletico Paranaense wonderkid Vitor Roque, according to reports from Brazil.
Goal features a report claiming several European sides have been taking steps to land the teenager, whose release clause stands at €60m.
Clubs such as Barcelona, Chelsea and Newcastle are the last to make ‘enquiries’ for the signing.
They all face the competition from Paris Saint-Germain, who had also made an approach earlier this year.
The problem is that Athletico know the gem they have in hands, and will block any attempts to sign him, meaning that all those clubs should know that they’re only landing the 17-year-old in case they trigger the release clause.
It’s said the contacts from Chelsea and Newcastle were made directly with the Brazilian club.
There is, however, plenty of time to negotiate for him, since Vitor Roque only turns 18 in February, and therefore could only make a transfer to Europe in the summer transfer window.
The striker is undoubtedly one of the most promising talents in Brazil, and is currently with Brazil’s U-20 squad for the South American Championship.
