Newcastle United have ‘asked for information’ on Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca as they eye a surprise deal for the youngster.

That’s according to FC Inter News, who say the Magpies could provide competition to Inter for the 23-year-old.

Scamacca is one of the hottest prospects in Italy after shining for Sassuolo this season, with nine goals in 21 games in Serie A so far.

All of the top clubs in Italy are keen on his signature, including Inter Milan, who are ready to ‘push’ for him now and ‘block’ the competition in the process.

That competition is coming from everywhere, with Arsenal having ‘observed him twice’ and Newcastle also one of the clubs who have ‘asked for information’ regarding the player’s status.

Inter are moving ‘decisively’, but it will require a big bid for them to get their man, with Sassuolo asking for €40m but Inter refusing to go beyond €25m, potentially throwing some players into the mix.

Scamacca would like to move to Milan alongside teammate Davide Frattesi, who Inter are also working to sign.

They’ll have to match Sassuolo’s demands, though, and hope that Newcastle don’t use their wealth to pull off a surprise signing.
