Feyenoord star Igor Paixão has insisted he’s letting others work on a transfer this summer, with Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest reportedly interested.
1908 cover comments from the winger today made to ESPN as he continues to impress in the Netherlands and earn admirers in Europe.
Paixão has established himself as the star for the Dutch side, with impressive performances in the Eredivisie and the Champions League earning him admirers, particularly in England.
Newcastle and Nottingham Forest have both been credited with an interest ahead of the summer, with a report in March insisting that both had their eye on him.
Paixão, for his part, has regularly insisted that he is only focused on performing for Feyenoord and continuing what has been a good season for him.
His stance on transfer has been that he wants what is best for the Dutch side, ignoring the rumours linking him to Newcastle, Nottingham Forest or anyone else. That’s a line he’s continued with ESPN, insisting it will be for others to decide his future.
“My focus is still here. I want to end the season well. I want to make the supporters happy,” he said when asked about a potential departure.
“I leave it to God. My agents and the Feyenoord board choose the best path. I believe in God because of how I am doing. Everyone can see how hard I work for it. I believe that things will go well by themselves.”
