Some days ago, Newcastle United emerged as candidates to land Lazio midfielder Matteo Guendouzi. It now seems as if they could face competition from Aston Villa.

InterLive have reported on the Frenchman’s situation and they state that while the ex-Arsenal player does not want to depart Lazio, there is a price tag on his head.

The Roman club would consider a sale if around €35m is offered in the summer, having signed Guendouzi for a fee of €15m.

Apart from Newcastle United and Aston Villa, there is also interest from Inter Milan and they have the 26-year-old on their shortlist already.

A move will be quite complex for Inter due to the costs involved. As a result, they are not considering making an offer any time soon.

Due to that it’s believed Aston Villa and Newcastle United are in an advantageous position in the race. More developments are awaited in the scenario, but they are the two clubs are ‘at forefront’ for Guendouzi’s potential signing.
