Brentford defender Kristoffer Ajer is a potential target for VfL Wolfsburg in the January transfer window.
That’s according to SportBILD, who say the arrival of a new sporting director at the German club can push through transfers in January.
The newspaper explains that Wolfsburg are targeting a move for Hoffenheim’s Andreas Schicker. They want him to replace Sebastian Schindzielorz.
He’s turned things around at Hoffenheim after building a title winning team at Sturm Graz. Now Wolfsburg want him to do the same at their club and he’s open to the move.
The feeling is that the squad is imbalanced and he should put his first efforts into that. The first thing they want is ‘firm leadership’ and that’s where Ajer comes in.
He could be brought in from Brentford to strengthen the defence and add a strong voice to the dressing room. He was recently spotted at the club’s training ground as well, adding to transfer speculation.
The German side actually targeted the Brentford man in the summer but saw their efforts fall by the wayside. It seems they’re now considering a second attempt, with their new sporting director potentially leading the charge.
