Following the initial reports regarding the price Chelsea are paying to sign Vasco da Gama youngster Andrey Santos, we get to see a more reasonable report about it now.
UOL comes up with new claims saying the transfer could cost the Blues as much as €23m.
Chelsea are said to be initially paying €15m, and the other €8m dependent on performance goals.
It’s claimed that Andrey Santos agreed a five-year contract with the Blues, and the deal should be made official as soon as the player goes through the medicals and signs the deal.
UOL adds that the player had also been approached by Manchester City and Newcastle United. But ‘both offered less attractive projects from an individual and, above all, collective point of view’.
Since Andrey’s transfer to Chelsea was reported, there’s been a mix of reports regarding how much the Blues would pay for him. Some said it’d be a total of €20m, while others said €40m overall, which always seemed like too much for an 18-year-old midfielder.
This report from UOL now should put an end to it, as that sounds like a more reasonable fee for a promising youngster who’s still to prove himself in the top flight.
