It had been a while since Aston Villa had last been linked to Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie, and that rumour is today brought back by the Italian media.
Calcio Mercato feature a story about the Old Lady’s ‘flop’ and the options he has in the summer window.
Aston Villa are put side to side with Borussia Dortmund as a club who could sign McKennie in the coming months.
Juventus, however, know they can’t make a lot with the sale. It’s claimed that McKennie’s months on loan at Leeds United were a ‘fiasco’, and he isn’t exactly a big target in the market.
So even though the Old Lady had set a €40m price for the Elland Road side to sign him, it’s now clear they’ll need to drop the request to get him sold this summer.
No bids have been made by Aston Villa or Borussia Dortmund so far. And even though Calcio Mercato say contacts are ‘in progress’, we wonder what McKennie could add to the strong side that Unai Emery has been building recently.
