Once one of the shining lights at Arsenal, Kieran Tierney is now on loan at Real Sociedad, where he is currently trying to get his career back on track.
It wasn’t an easy beginning for the Scottish defender, but Mundo Deportivo explain he is ‘beginning to show the reasons’ why the LaLiga side went for him in the first place.
The big question at the moment is whether he will return to Arsenal or stay in Spain, with reports in England claiming the Gunners would want £20m to let him go.
If that is the case, then Mundo Deportivo say it’s clear that Real Sociedad would ‘never reach that amount’, or even come close to it, since their biggest signing was Umar Sadiq for €20m.
Suffering two major injuries this season, Tierney isn’t currently in his prime, and that could play a part in any negotiations that might occur in the summer.
It’s recalled the Spanish side weren’t able to secure an option to buy in the loan for Tierney in the initial talks with Arsenal, as that would have also meant agreeing a contract with the defender, and the figures involved were ‘outside of all the club’s parameters’.
By the looks of things, the defender could be on his way back to the Emirates in the summer, with Mikel Arteta and Edu Gaspar having a choice to make for a player whose contract with the Gunners expires in 2026.
