Genk coach Wouter Vrancken has admitted that striker Paul Onuachu could leave today amid interest from Southampton.
Onuachu has been heavily linked with a move away from Genk on deadline day, with Southampton and Everton both linked to his signature as they scramble to bolster their forward lines.
It is the Saints who have seemingly taken up the charge in the last few hours, though, with several reports in Belgium making it clear they have an agreement in place with the player to make the move.
That is something he wants to do as he is desperate to play in the Premier League, but Southampton are yet to reach any agreement with Genk over a move.
They are pushing to get a deal over the line, though, and give Nathan Jones the extra firepower his side needs for their relegation battle.
“You never know what will happen,” Het Laatste Nieuws report him saying.
“But I live very fiercely in the here and now. Paul showed this morning that he likes being here, but I’m also not so naive as to think nothing more can happen today.
“An exciting day? I’m not looking too much ahead. Paul was very involved in the match preparation for Eupen and I am also counting on him tomorrow. There is nothing to be said about his attitude.
“That (trying to convince him to stay) never makes much sense. We know what we have in common, that’s the most important thing.”
