Newcastle United completed the signing of Nick Woltemade from VfB Stuttgart for a reported fee of around €90m in the summer window.
On Friday, the striker said the fee paid by the Magpies is “obviously crazy”.
A day later, the Germany international had a dream debut with Newcastle as he scored in their 1-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers at St James’ Park.
Bild caught up with the 23-year-old to discuss his new life in England, and he opened up on Eddie Howe’s assistance in helping him settle in at the Tyneside club. The frontman explained how the manager is making him feel good even without talking about football.
“He makes me feel good; I have one-on-one conversations with him every day. They’re mainly about topics that have nothing to do with football, like my move or how my family is doing. It’s a great working culture here,” he said.
Bild then report the frontman has found a new apartment in Newcastle, which is around 30 minutes’ drive from the English club’s training centre.
The German has revealed his friends are in the UK to support him and one of them has also moved in with him to his new apartment.
“My friends are here with me, so I get a lot of support. One of them is even moving in with me permanently. We’re very good friends and have always joked that if I ever move abroad, we’ll go there together. Neither of us has a girlfriend, so we have quite a bit of freedom,” Woltemade explained.
Bild are of the belief his friends and Howe have helped the new Magpies star to settle quickly in the UK.
