There’s a claim in the Turkish media that Fenerbahce have pulled out of negotiations to sign Newcastle Untied defender Lloyd Kelly.

The 26-year-old has been linked with a move to the Istanbul side in recent days following reports they’d made an offer.

Jose Mourinho is reportedly keen to bring in a left-sided defender in this window and Kelly was seen as an ideal candidate, given he can play in central defence and at left back.

Sercan Hamzaoglu reports on the latest developments regarding Fenerbahce’s pursuit for the Newcastle United player and they say the Yellow Canaries have been priced out of a move for him.

It’s claimed the Premier League side are looking for a transfer fee in the region of €20m, despite signing him on a free transfer in the summer window.

Fener’s initial offer of £6m was reportedly rejected by Newcastle United, but transfer talks continued between the two clubs. However, with the Magpies’ demands, the Super Lig side have now distanced themselves from the player.

Kelly has made 13 appearances for Newcastle United this season and is contracted to them until June 2029.
