The race for Cagliari midfielder Nahitan Nandez has been full of turnarounds this summer, and to make the situation even more intriguing, we get a couple of contradicting claims about the interest from Tottenham Hotspur.
Spurs have been pointed out as a potential destination for the 25-year-old, even though Inter Milan are still strong contenders for his signing.
Tottenham’s chase is now backed up by journalist Gianluca Di Marzio. Live on Sky Italia, he claimed that club director Fabio Paratici is the one who’s working on the talks.
“After the break with the rossoblù club, the Uruguayan is looking for a team. There were the first contacts from Paratici’s Tottenham and the negotiations are proceeding,” said Di Marzio (via Cagliari News 24).
The outlet writes that Paratici hasn’t spoken to Nandez’s agent Pablo Bettancourt yet, claiming there could only be talks between clubs. They say there’s the chance that Spurs’ contact may have been ‘just a poll’ and the rumours could even be a ‘strategy’ from Cagliari president Tommaso Giulini to force Inter Milan to make a bigger bid.
FC Inter News can’t guarantee the veracity of Tottenham’s interest, but claims that in case Inter Milan don’t move fast, Nandez will start looking for other options in the market, regardless of Spurs going after him or not.
