On Tuesday, Sky Italia reported Paulo Dybala is evaluating the option to join Manchester United since his move to Inter Milan is currently on stand-by.

The forward, who is now a free agent after leaving Juventus, was expected to join Inter this summer. However, the possibility of making a switch to the San Siro, at least for now, has been stalled by Nerazzurri chief Giuseppe Marotta.

“He is one of the free players and it is the first time that many high level free players are still without a team. It is the demonstration that football is changing, it is a football that looks to keep costs down,” Marotto was quoted as saying by Sport Mediaset.

“Dybala represented an opportunity, but we cannot forget we are good in the offensive sector: we have a number of strong players, which the manager will have to manage in the best possible way. The affection towards Paulo remains.”

Calciomercato explain the door is not completely closed for the Argentina international to join Inter. He can arrive if two or even three attackers were to leave the club.

Having signed Romelu Lukaku on loan from Chelsea, Simone Inzaghi has the Belgian, Edin Džeko, Lautaro Martínez, Alexis Sánchez, Joaquín Correa and Andrea Pinamonti as his options for attack.

Dybala’s salary demands are deemed high by his other Italian suitors, such as AC Milan and AS Roma. Therefore, the Serie A track doesn’t yet take off for him.

From abroad, Manchester United are mentioned. It’s claimed the ‘hypothesis can rekindle’, if the Red Devils are forced to offload Cristiano Ronaldo and sign a replacement for the Portuguese forward.

Erik ten Hag’s side could still be an option for Dybala even if they cannot offer Champions League football next season.

At the moment, the contacts ‘continue under the radar’ and time is an important factor for him to find a new club. If there is no solution in the coming weeks, Dybala may have to lower his salary demands, which could see Italian clubs relaunch their interest.

Calciomercato end their report by stating: ‘Waiting for the future of Dybala, time passes and finding a new team becomes more and more urgent.’

Meanwhile, journalist Gianluca Di Marzio told Sky Italia’s Sky Calciomercato – L’Originale, the South American’s agents have contacted United, after Inter gave up on Dybala.

“Marotta’s words are a confirmation of what has been said in recent days. With the arrival of Lukaku, Inter gave up Dybala, to be understood whether permanently or temporarily,” Di Marzio said, as relayed by Inter-News.it.

“I see it unlikely that one of Džeko and Correa, wanted by Simone Inzaghi, can open the doors to a possible arrival of the Argentine, who is looking around.

“His agents are in contact with various clubs, very recent contact with Manchester United. It is true that Milan are thinking about him too but they have not taken decisive steps, they are working on other things.”

Sky Italia journalist Angelo Mangiante further backs up Di Marzio’s comments as he states there’s ‘negotiations ongoing’ between Dybala’s representatives and Manchester United.
