AC Milan have made signing Manchester United‘s Noussair Mazraoui as one of the top priorities this summer.

The Morocco international arrived at Old Trafford from Bayern Munich in August 2024 for €15m plus bonuses.

Mazraoui played 77 matches for Manchester United and 23 were as a centre-back, 21 as a right wing-back and 20 as a right-back.

He made 49 of those appearances in the former two positions under Ruben Amorim, who left Manchester United in January. Michael Carrick replaced the Portuguese and Mazraoui started five of the 11 players under his orders.

The Italian club have appointed Amorim as their new manager and he seems to be keen on reuniting with his former player.

Negotiations with Manchester United soon

AC Milan are prioritising strengthening their defence this summer. That’s according to Africa Foot, who claims their interest in Noussair Mazraoui is part of the strategy.

The Rossoneri are in the market for a right-back who can contribute both while attacking and defending.

This has seen them focus on the 28-year-old, and the Serie A side view him as the best fit. AC Milan also believe his experience, both in domestic and European competition, as a major asset.

There are expectations for Milan to intensify the negotiations, likely with Manchester United, in the ‘coming days’ to find out the feasibility of this operation.

Ruben Amorim’s side are hoping to intensify negotiations in the next few days, to finalise his signing before the start of the season. That may not be straight forward.

Manchester United’s stance unclear

Noussair Mazraoui has a contract until 2028, with an option for another year. His value, as per Transfermarkt, is €18m, and the highest was €32m in December 2024, while at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils haven’t decided yet on the versatile defender. There should be more clarity on this in the next few days.

Africa Foot makes no mention of what Milan are willing to offer or the fee needed to take the Moroccan away from Michael Carrick’s side.

Two months ago, we relayed news of Manchester United’s interest in Borussia Dortmund’s Julian Ryerson. They could activate this track if Mazraoui were to leave this summer.
