Brighton & Hove Albion let Aaron Connolly join Venezia on loan in the last transfer window after he returned to The Amex from his temporary spell at Middlesbrough in the summer.

The forward made five appearances, which includes two starts, in the first five matches of this season. His last outing came against SPAL in September and he hasn’t featured for the Serie B side since then.

Last month, Venezia sporting director Filippo Antonelli revealed his side will hold talks with Brighton to discuss the 22-year-old’s future.

TuttoMercatoWeb now state the player’s time at Venezia is ‘already over’. The Italian club have made the decision to send him back to the Premier League side in the ongoing window.

Brighton will have to decide whether to include the Republic of Ireland international in Roberto De Zerbi’s plans this season or part ways through a sale or loan in January.

Over at Sportitalia, they also explain Connolly’s loan stay in Italy may already be over. He will return to Brighton, and this has now been confirmed by Antonelli.

“We are negotiating for his return,” the Venezia chief told Sportitalia.
