Having made his debut for Vélez Sarsfield in 2018, Thiago Almada has been successful in impressing with his performances.

The 18-year-old’s displays for the Argentine side have drawn attention from clubs in Europe.

Earlier this month, we carried a report from AS, who explained Manchester City and Atlético Madrid are looking at the attacking midfielder.

It was also suggested the Premier League side are the ‘most dangerous’ club in the race for the teenager.

Pep Guardiola’s side wanting the player is once again mentioned in today’s edition of Sport.

César Luis Menotti, the World Cup winning manager with Argentina and currently La Albiceleste’s Director of National Teams has written a column on the back page of the Catalan newspaper. He is of the belief that Almada is a ‘boy with a future’.

Menotti also suggested the youngster should give preference to the Madrid club over City because ‘his dynamics and his technique would benefit him’ to play well in Diego Simeone’s team.

Almada has already admitted he has “always liked” City. It’ll be interesting to see if he would prefer a move the Etihad club or take Menotti’s advice and join Atlético, when he decides to leave Vélez.
