Back in January, the Brazilian media reported that Fulham made an attempt to sign André from Fluminense.

It was claimed that the Whites put €20m on the table to sign the midfielder, and that was turned down by the Rio de Janeiro side.

Speaking to the local press that week, the player confirmed there was an offer to take him to Europe, but didn’t give any details about it.

It turns out that André has been doing pretty well at Fluminense this season. On Wednesday evening, they beat Flamengo in the Copa Guanabara final, and proved they’re the real deal for the rest of the year.

Club manager Fernando Diniz spoke to the Brazilian media after the match and had interesting remarks about André’s future, claiming he’ll soon be in the national team.

“André must be worth €20m, €30m today. Best defensive midfielder in Brazilian football. He’ll easily make a career when he migrates to Europe. He should play one, two, three World Cups,” said Fernando Diniz.

Covering the quotes, ESPN Brasil recalls that Fulham had ‘intensified talks’ for André this year, but Fluminense decided to keep him.

We’re still to see any reports saying whether Fulham are still interested in the player, but judging by this evolution, it should continue to be hard to take him from the Brazilian club.
