This week, reports from the English media claimed that Manchester City have Brighton & Hove Albion youngster Julio Enciso as a target.
It was claimed by The Mirror that Pep Guardiola is a ‘huge admirer’ of the Seagulls’ youngster and included him in their summer list.
That story obviously made a lot of noise in Paraguay, where they always follow how their players are doing in Europe. And now, Versus managed to have a word with the agent of the Brighton player.
Enciso’s representative Pedro Aldave was asked about Manchester City’s potential interest in his client. The agent clearly didn’t want to feed the rumours, and made it clear the player shouldn’t get too excited about it either.
“I saw about Manchester City, but they had already looked for Julio when he was at Libertad. He must have his feet on the ground and consolidate himself as a starter. He’s different and they will always look for him,” Pedro Aldave told Versus.
It was last summer that Brighton spent €11.6m to sign Enciso from Paraguayan side Libertad. Their chase had been ongoing for a while when they finally got to make the signing.
In his first season in England, the striker had three goals and three assists in 24 appearances, and that may have drawn Manchester City’s interest.
