Earlier this month, Corriere della Sera reported surprise Fiorentina interest in Leeds United defender Jaka Bijol.
This came right after the Florence club thought they had missed out on Tottenham’s Radu Dragusin. Even though Bijol joined Leeds United from Udinese in 2025, he was one of the options being considered by Fabio Paratici.
Paratici is set to swap Tottenham for Fiorentina in February, but is already doing work for La Viola. Despite it all being a long shot, to say the least, Fiorentina’s hope of landing the Slovenian has not gone away.
Gazzetta dello Sport report today that the 26-year-old is very much a target. There is still pessimism over Dragusin joining Fiorentina. Union Berlin’s Diogo Leite is being pursued, but he would prefer to leave the German club in the summer.
That is why the Leeds United man remains an option and his experience with Udinese is seen as a big positive.
Corriere Fiorentino also push a move for the Slovenia international.
They note La Viola’s desperation to sign a centre-back this month. Bijol is described as a ‘former target’, however, there is belief he’s returning to Paratici’s radar in the last few days of January.
Despite this, a move for the defender will be very unlikely.
Leeds United defender unlikely to join Fiorentina

Leeds United paid €22m to land him from Udinese. After a slow start, he’s been an important player for Daniel Farke since October.
Bojol has been a regular for the Whites, starring against Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United. That is why it would be a big shock if he leaves anytime soon.
In addition to that rather large barrier, should Bijol want a Serie A return then he could surely do much better than the current incarnation of Fiorentina.
