Everton appear set to make an early move for Benfica midfielder Florentino Luis, with a growing belief in Portugal that they’re ready to up their efforts for him.
Correio da Manhã, Jornal de Noticias, Record and O Jogo all cover the player today and insist Everton are in the mix and ready to move to get their man.
A report from O Jogo yesterday revived Everton’s interest in Florentino Luis after they tried to sign him in the January transfer window, but Benfica refused to do a deal.
That report stated Everton had revived their interest and were ready to move this summer as they look to build Sean Dyche’s squad.
They repeat that claim today, insisting the Premier League side ‘will return to the charge’ for the midfielder this summer.
They again insist that a deal for the midfielder this summer ‘may have legs’ as Everton appear willing to move forward with a proposal to acquire the 24-year-old.
Correio da Manhã, meanwhile, state that Everton are not giving up on Florentino and are now ‘willing to take further steps’ to get him after their efforts in January.
Record, on the other hand, say that Everton are now at the stage where they are ‘studying a proposal’ for the midfielder and planning to make their bid soon after being turned down earlier this year.
Jornal de Noticias are confident of a bid being made too, stating that Everton will make a bid once the summer transfer window is officially open.
They want to put an offer on the table for Benfica to study and the Portuguese side might be willing to do so as they’ve already secured a potential replacement in Mainz midfielder Leandro Barreiro.
The growing belief in Portugal then, is that Everton are sat waiting to make their move and perhaps get a deal done quickly for a player they wanted in January and haven’t given up on yet.
