Benfica are interested in Manchester United fullback Alvaro Fernandez Carreras, according to claims from Portugal.
It’s newspaper O Jogo who today feature a front-page story saying this chase is on for the winter transfer window.
The outlet claims that the Manchester United player is ‘on top of the list’ that Benfica have for January, as club officials are already working to try to understand the conditions for a potential deal.
Fernandez is currently having a loan spell at Granada, where the 20-year-old has made 13 appearances this season, with 475 minutes played. O Jogo claims he’s valued at €7m.
Benfica reportedly got in touch with the Spanish club to know whether they’d let him move in the middle of the season, as well as asking Manchester United the same. It’s just not made clear whether the Eagles also want the fullback on loan or if they’d invest on a permanent transfer.
The Red Devils signed Fernandez in a free move from Real Madrid back in 2020. He’s already had loans at Preston North End and now Granada, and hasn’t made his first team debut for Erik ten Hag’s side yet.
