Marko Arnautovic swapping West Ham for Manchester United this summer has gone a little quiet, but to save the transfer rumour say, Österreich (the publication, not the country) has an update.

It’s claimed Jose Mourinho has been in contact with the West Ham player’s brother via SMS. Danijel, who is also Arnautovic’s agent, has been chatting with the Manchester United boss, according to the claims.

Österreich say they’ve learned this information from ‘insider circles’, but they don’t add much more about the actual transfer chase.

It’s believed West Ham would demand a big offer to part with their forward, with the Austrian publication suggesting a figure of €57m.

That’s a big fee and it would probably allow Manuel Pellegrini to have a little more in his summer transfer budget at West Ham.

Arnautovic would be the big back-up Mourinho made clear he feels he doesn’t have for Romelu Lukaku at Manchester United, and the manager knows the player from their time together at Inter Milan… where they didn’t exactly hit it off.
