Marcel Sabitzer rumours are picking up pace already this week, and there’s been several claims coming from the German media.

Bild kick things a little further forward on Monday evening, with it stated the midfielder has informed RB Leipzig he wants a move in the summer window, with his current contract lasting until June 2022.

Tottenham have been the club linked most in recent months, and they get another mention again in the latest report. Manchester United and Liverpool are credited with some interest, however, it’s made clear Tottenham are leading the pack for the signing.

Jose Mourinho is said to be ‘impressed’ with Sabitzer, after the 26-year-old’s performances for RB Leipzig against Tottenham in the Champions League last season.

The Bundesliga club’s manager Julian Nagelsmann wants to keep his captain, and Bild say he’ll fight to retain Sabitzer, but there’s pressure put on the situation given the player’s contract situation.

That should benefit Tottenham and is surely a lever they’d used when discussing a transfer fee in the summer market.
