PSV Eindhoven defender Anass Salah-Eddine has revealed he has a special plan in place just to face Newcastle United in the Champions League next month.

NU have a brief interview with him today. He explains how he is hoping to face Newcastle, despite being penned in to miss the game due to the Africa Cup of Nations.

PSV are set to be without several key players for that big game against Eddie Howe’s side next month as they’ll be at AFCON.

Anass Salah-Eddine is likely to be one of them. There’s also Ismael Saibari and Couhaib Drioeuch, while Adamo Nagalo is likely to be in the Burkina Faso squad. If they’re called up, they could be out until January, depending on how their team’s progress.

Newcastle United match is crucial

That’s a problem for PSV. They’re taking on Newcastle three days after the final of the tournament on January 18th. The game against the Magpies is crucial to their hopes of making the knockout stages.

Saibari is already out through suspension, so losing Salah-Eddine, Driouech and potentially Nagalo as well would be a bitter blow. The former, though, has a potential plan in place to ensure he doesn’t miss out.

“I think we can arrange something with PSV, that I fly straight from Morocco to Newcastle,” he said. “I’d like a celebration in Morocco if we win, but after that, I’ll go straight on.”
