For the past few hours, the Italian media has been talking a lot about Juventus’ chase for Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz, and their intention to include Weston McKennie in the deal.

It turns out that the Villans’ interest in the North American player may not depend on that swap, as their chase for him could continue on its own.

Outlet Tuttosport today writes that since McKennie’s contract with Juventus expires next year and there are no big hopes of a renewal, his departure indeed ‘seems inevitable’ this summer.

Aston Villa show up as the interested side, with Monchi willing to pay between €12m and €15m for his signing.

That valuation is considered low, as Juventus’ idea is to make €25m with his sale. Still, it’s said that the ‘discussion remains open’, and ‘new episodes’ are expected.

Right now, McKennie is focused on playing at the Copa America with the United States in his home country.

It seems clear that Juventus have been trying to bring up the midfielder’s valuation in a potential deal with Douglas Luiz, but if Aston Villa come for the North American in a separate deal, then they have a much bigger chance to sign him.

Go so low below asking price is something Monchi did repeatedly at Sevilla.
