There’s a claim in the Turkish media that Aston Villa continue to have interest in Galatasaray attacker Baris Alper Yilmaz.

The 24-year-old has been linked with West Ham United and Nottingham Forest in recent weeks after he impressed for Turkey at last summer’s Euros and carried that form through into this season.

Galatasaray reporter Yakup Çınar has spoken, as covered by Haber Sarikirmizi, about the latest developments around Yilmaz.

Çınar says Aston Villa are now in the race to sign the right winger ahead of the next window as they look to bolster their attacking options. He also stated Monchi has admiration for the player.

Again, West Ham are credited with interest and it’s reiterated they made an offer which wasn’t accepted.

“West Ham have put €30m on the table for Baris Alper. Galatasaray refused, saying, ‘Come at the end of the season’. Aston Villa are also following, Monchi wants him very much. At the end of the season, both Aston Villa and West Ham will be knocking on Galatasaray’s door,” said the Galla reporter.

Galatasaray are fighting on three fronts for silverware and subsequently the Super Lig leaders don’t want to sell one of their key players in this window.

In the summer it’s likely there will be plenty of interest from Premier League clubs and reports in Turkey suggest Galatasaray will then be willing to sell.

Yilmaz is contracted to the Istanbul giants until June 2027.
