A week ago, we covered claims from Norway that Aston Villa are leading the race to sign Rosenborg BK’s Sverre Nypan in the summer window.
Two days later, the 18-year-old’s father, Arne Nypan, said he’s been working on his son’s transfer. Four days ago, Sverre refused to speak about the reports linking him to Aston Villa.
Earlier claims made it clear that Aston Villa haven’t started negotiations with him or his club. Nettavisen claim that could change soon after Villans director Monchi made a trip to Norway on Monday.
The youngster played started in his side’s 2-0 win over Vålerenga and Monchi was in attendance at the latter’s home stadium yesterday. He left after the player was replaced in the 72nd minute.
According to the report, Monchi was joined by the Premier League club’s scout, Alberto Benito, in Oslo. The Aston Villa officials have discussed details of the transfer involving the Norway U21 international and also held talks with Arne before the tie.
Monchi was staying in Olso’s Scandic Helsfyr. Nettavisen met him at reception, but the Spaniard refused to discuss any potential operation for Sverre Nypan.
After Monchi’s visit, the report states there are many indications that a move involving Sverre Nypan is now ‘approaching’. More developments are expected in the next few days and weeks.
