Sevilla’s need to bring in money before June 30th to balance the books could hand Monchi his chance to sign Youssef En-Nesyri Aston Villa at a much cheaper price than anticipated.
That’s at least if the latest information from Estadio Deportivo is anything to go by, with them explaining the Spanish side are in a ‘rush to make cash’ that will see the striker’s asking price drop considerably.
The newspaper explains that Sevilla need to bring money into the club before the end of this month to help balance the books and fund their planned rebuild of the squad.
En-Nesyri is currently the prime option to be sold off, with the Moroccan striker still enjoying admirers in the Premier League.
Aston Villa are believed to be one of them, with recent reports indicating that Monchi, the man who signed him for Sevilla in the first place, could be keen on a reunion at Villa Park.
That could be made easier by Sevilla’s desperation to make money, with Estadio explaining that while they’ve set an initial request of €30m on En-Nesyri, the reality is that the price they will get for him will be much lower.
Indeed, the growing belief, powered by that need to secure at least one major sale this month, is that they will take a considerably lower base fee than that which includes bonuses to top it up. Maybe as low as €15m. Getting to €30m all in may even be something of a struggle, though.
That will be good news to Aston Villa, who will want to strengthen their squad for the Champions League but need to factor in PSR, which is reportedly at the limit thanks to their spending in recent years.
They would perhaps be wise to wait it out and force Sevilla to get desperate, although five days in and the mood from the Spanish press is that may already be the case.
