The future of Henry Onyekuru is something we’ve covered plenty this summer, with it yet to be decided where the Nigerian will end up next season.

There’s no place for him at Everton, who seem entirely unwilling to bring him back to Goodison regardless of a work permit, and all signs pointed to another loan deal for the winger. Indeed, Galatasaray appeared to have another agreement all sewn up.

However, it seems that may not be the case with L’Equipe reporting today that Monaco are now interested in signing Onyekuru this summer.

The newspaper reports that the Ligue 1 side haven’t given up on signing young talent but are now looking at players who have a little more experience.

This has led them to Onyekuru, who shone at Galatasaray last season and was impressive on loan at Anderlecht before that as well.

So far there is little knowledge about how much Everton would want for the player, but a fee of €17m is the initial suggestion.

Onyekuru seems keen on the move and L’Equipe say that he has already indicated to teammates that he will be heading to the French side and signing a five-year deal with the club.

Whether that’s true or not remains to be seen. Everton certainly seem happy to get rid of the player and a €17m fee is not bad for someone they paid £7m for.

Marcel Brands is a keen negotiator, though, and may push for more than that in any sale as it would help fund Everton’s long-running hunt for a new winger this summer.
