Sunderland signed Enzo Le Fee on an initial loan deal from AS Roma in the January transfer window.

The midfielder has sparkled for the Black Cats so far, assisting in the 3-2 win over Middlesbrough over the weekend.

The Italian press is paying attention to the Frenchman’s time in England.

Calciomercato.it have reported on the 25-year-old today, stating that he has been reborn at Sunderland.

They describe the situation as a bit of a ‘mockery’ for Roma and also take note of how Le Fee never quite got going at the Italian side. His performances, in fact, plummeted since his arrival under former manager Daniele de Rossi.

The outlet believe that Roma will now be cheering for Sunderland and their promotion to the Premier League.

That is because the Black Cats’ obligation to buy Le Fee permanently will be triggered if they seal promotion to the top-flight. This will cover what Roma initially paid.

A permanent exit to Sunderland has been described as a move that will satisfy everyone – including the player, although there’s certainly some regret that Roma couldn’t get the best out of him.
