With Palmeiras backing out from the talks with Chelsea for the signing of Andrey Santos, we now get to see other clubs stepping in to have the midfielder on a loan.
The latest side to join the race seems to be LA Galaxy. As reported by Goal, the MLS club made an offer to have the player while he doesn’t get a work permit for the Premier League.
The story says Chelsea are still to respond to that bid, but Andrey himself already ‘signalled’ he’s not keen on making the move, as he’d like to play in ‘stronger competitions’.
According to Goal, sources close to the player ‘indicate’ that in Brazil, only Vasco da Gama would accept the Blues’ demands for the loan, and other outlets from the South American country say something similar.
UOL confirms that the Rio de Janeiro club ‘accepted’ Chelsea’s requests. The London side want the player to feature in the U-20 World Cup in May and June and potentially bring him back on the 1st of July in case he gets the work permit by then.
That’s potentially very little time for the loan, but all Vasco want is to have him for at least a few matches and see him having a proper farewell to their fans, and are fine with the conditions.
According to UOL, what blocks the loan for now is that the club have a debt with Andrey, as they’re still to pay him his share of the sale to Chelsea. Still, they believe that his big feelings for them will help, and the parties are optimistic about a deal.
