West Ham United defender Nayef Aguerd is ‘very doubtful’ for Morocco’s quarter-final clash with Portugal on Saturday.
That’s according to L’Equipe, who say the centre-back suffered a hamstring injury in the shock win over Spain and is not expected to be ready for the game against Portugal.
According to their information, ‘a miracle is needed’ for the West Ham man to make the game, with it a ‘virtual certainty’ that he will miss the huge clash.
The extent of the injury to his hamstring is not yet known but has been deemed sufficient enough to rule him out of his country’s latest big game in Qatar.
They will therefore have to do without a key player for the clash with Ronaldo and co, with Jawad El-Yamiq expected to replace the West Ham defender in the starting line up.
This hamstring is the latest in a growing list of knocks for the defender, who has already missed 19 West Ham games this season with an ankle injury picked up in the summer not long after his move from Rennes.
