Earlier this year, towards the end of the transfer summer window, Chelsea were in a rush to try and get a few late signings done.
One of the players targeted was Club Brugge’s Antonio Nusa, who has grown from strength to strength of late, and quickly showed why he was wanted by the Blues with some great performances for Norway on the international stage.
Chelsea were said to have made a €30m bid for the young winger, but the move never materialised, but he now finds himself on the bench, much to the great surprise of the pundits at Unibet in Belgium.
To say that Club Brugge are underperforming this season is something of an understatement, as the normally topping the table side are currently 7th in the Jupiler Pro League, 12 points off leaders Union Saint-Gilloise.
One of the pundits, Quentin, said: “They’re one of the most catastrophic Brugges of the last few years. They have quality players. OK, Zinckernagel came because (manager Ronny Deila) had him at Standard, but when you put the jewel Nusa on the bench…
“A Belgian club who refuses €30m for a player, and he’s on the bench. It’s mind-boggling. OK, they have great finances, but when you have players like Nusa and Skov Olsen… They have good players.”
At this rate, perhaps Nusa is regretting his decision to not push more for a move to England, but he still has time to turn things around, and, if not, we highly doubt that Chelsea will have forgotten about him.
