Tottenham are increasingly keen on a move for Sandro Tonali. A key point in the deal is now be approaching.
It has been clear that Spurs are trying to race ahead of the competition for the midfielder. This has been covered by Sport Witness, with Gianluca Di Marzio making it clear that an initial offer has been made.
That saw Tottenham put forward £75m, with Newcastle United demanding £85m to sell the Italian. As a result, the bid was rejected but Roberto De Zerbi remains keen on working with his compatriot.
A second offer is on the way.
Two sources confirm next steps
Journalist Orazio Accomando has reported on the midfielder, who is has agreed to join Tottenham.
De Zerbi’s side are now racing to win the race and make sure no other club trumps them. As a result, they will make a new offer by midweek in an attempt to close the deal quickly.
He expects a move to be done for £90m, which is slightly different to the information put forward by Di Marzio.

He is confident a new bid will be made. Tottenham can exceed the €100m barrier, which is in line with Accomando’s information.
Things going in the right direction
Tottenham are going the extra mile to satisfy De Zerbi. Sorting out midfield will have been high on his agenda. When De Zerbi was appointed, in was made clear in Italy that he’d have a big say on transfer business.
Tonali will fit in as a number six and also slot in as a number eight when needed.
