Following his departure from Manchester United this summer, Angel Gomes has been proving himself in the first months into the season.
The midfielder signed a five-year deal with French side Lille, but was immediately loaned out to his family’s home country Portugal, where he’s been featuring for Boavista.
Gomes made three assists in his first game there, then scored from midfield against Moreirense, and this weekend had a goal and an assist in a 3-0 win over Benfica.
So there’s a very good reason why he’s one of the most hyped players in the Portuguese league these days, and his father Gil Gomes was interviewed by TSF to talk about his form today.
“He accepted the challenge of Luís Campos to sign with Lille and relaunch his career at Boavista on loan from the French club, and now he is on the right track, he still has a lot to show”, Gil Gomes told TSF.
“Angel managed to show a path to the future by being one of the youngest to make his debut for Manchester United when the coach was José Mourinho, and that also helped him a lot.”
Angel Gomes joined Manchester United when he was a kid, and despite being promoted through several levels, he was never officially part of the first team.
He made 10 appearances for the club between 2017 and 2020, and by feeling himself out of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans, he chose to leave at the end of his contract last summer.
