West Ham United midfielder Sead Haksabanovic has revealed Manuel Pellegrini made it clear he needed to leave Malaga to get football this season.
The Swede had a poor six month spell with the Spanish side which resulted in the player joining IFK Norrköping on an 18 month loan deal in the last window.
Speaking to Fotboll Direkt, Haksabanovic explained what the West Ham manager told him: “You’ve already been on the bench and played U23 matches here. You have already done this so another year of this and you will not learn anything. Right now, you have no place in my squad and you will not play.”
Last month Haksabanovic returned to the London club after a disappointing loan spell with Malaga and another loan move always looked to be on the cards.
It was unlikely he’d force himself into West Ham’s first team this season and going out again on a temporary basis seemed his best option.
The West Ham man was also linked with a move to Swedish champions AIK during the last window, but they wanted to purchase the attacking midfielder outright rather than loan him.
Haksabanovic is highly rated in his home country and the 19 year old is tipped to have a bright future in the game.
