It now looks like the German media is trying to keep the rumour linking Ao Tanaka to Leeds United alive.
Earlier today, we covered a couple of reports which nearly killed the story. First with claims saying the Whites never made a bid for the player, and others writing that Borussia Mönchengladbach want him, while he’s keen on that transfer as well.
It turns out that as Bild now features an update on Tanaka’s situation, they claim he may still leave Fortuna Dusseldorf for Leeds United this summer.
In a bit of a crazy story the outlet claims the player could take part in a game on Friday evening and still complete the move to the Whites, since the English deadline is at midnight (German time).
Bild wonder if Tanaka would even be keen on the transfer, though, as he’d well settled in Dusseldorf and knows he’d have a tougher challenge if playing in the Championship.
The claims feel like wishful thinking on behalf of Fortuna, especially after the injury concerns earlier this week.
