It appears that Nottingham Forest, for all their efforts, will not be surprising everyone by signing Houssem Aouar.
This is according to RMC Sport, who explain that while the Tricky Trees are trying to sign an attacking midfielder, it will not be the Lyon star, who ‘has an agreement’ with the Premier League side.
That’s because Nottingham Forest have instead ‘found an agreement’ with Morgan Gibbs-White, currently at Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Loaned to Sheffield United last season, the 22-year-old has started the first two games of the season under Bruno Lage, but it doesn’t seem as if he’ll stick around for much longer.
That’s because Nottingham Forest are going to buy him in a deal that will cost Steve Cooper’s side ‘more than €40m’.
This means that Aouar is ‘no longer a priority’ for the newly promoted side, for whom they never found a financial agreement with Lyon.
The Frenchman had scored eight goals and assisted another six in 45 appearances for the Ligue 1 side last season in all competitions.
