Middlesbrough are one of a number of clubs taking an interest in Stephane Cueni, reports Calciomercato on Monday afternoon.

The youngster is receiving attention from several directions, and it’s explained Boro would be English competition for the Italian trio of Udinese, Torino and Parma.

Those clubs are said to have the player ‘in their sights’, whilst Middlesbrough are ‘on the trail’.

Cueni is currently registered to Swiss club Team Vaud and plays for their U18 side. He’s 17 years of age, turning 18 in March, and listed as a central midfielder who can also play on the left or right.

There’s not much more information available about the right footer, although it’s reported his contract ends in June 2019.

That’s one of the reasons for the growing interest, with Middlesbrough and the other clubs mentioned attracted by the idea of a free transfer for the youngster.

Born in Lausanne, Cueni has represented Switzerland at youth level.
