Borussia Dortmund have given long serving defender Neven Subotic the permission to talk to clubs.

The player has already left pre-season training, and reports suggest he could be heading to England. According to German newspaper Bild, clubs in the Premier League and FC Köln are interested in the Serbian defender.

Borussia Dortmund have put a price tag of €5m on Subotic, and reports in England suggest the defender is in talks with Middlesbrough.

However, there are conflicting reports on the transfer fee, as Gazzette Live reckon Subotic is available for around €9m.

The newly promoted side have recently completed a deal for Victor Valdes, and are now determined to make another top signing.

The 27-year-old was strongly linked to Liverpool in the winter transfer window, but they don’t appear to be interested in signing him any longer.

Middlesbrough have been very active in the transfer market, and have already signed five players.
