De Telegraaf have confirmed former Middlesbrough attacker Viktor Fischer has joined FC Copenhagen from Mainz.
The 23 year old joined the German side in the last window from Middlesbrough.
Its been reported Fischer has returned to his home country, following an unsuccessful six month spell in the Bundesliga. The Dane played just 10 league games for Mainz, and despite signing a four year contract last summer he’s taken the decision to join Copenhagen on a permanent deal.
It’s been revealed Fischer has committed himself to five years with the Danish club.
Fischer arrived at Middlesbrough in 2016, and plenty was expected from the youngster after the success he had at Ajax.
However, the Denmark international played just sixteen times for Middlesbrough, scoring no goals.
Following Middlesbrough’s relegation to the Championship last season he was sold in the summer window to Mainz.
The player will now be hoping to kick start his career in Denmark, after a difficult two seasons in England and Germany.
