There’s few things the German football media loves more than linking Bundesliga stars with the Premier League’s biggest clubs. Transfer business in the recently concluded summer will have encouraged them further.
That’s especially true when it comes to Liverpool, who have shown a willingness to spend big money on Bundesliga players. Florian Wirtz’s transfer especially will have shown German clubs just how much they can get from the biggest sides in the Premier League.
SportBild‘s magazine this week has Michael Olise plastered across the front page and a supposed Premier League battle heating up for the Bayern Munich player.
Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City are all said to be keen.
It’s Arne Slot’s side who are presented as the most interested. Liverpool would be ‘very happy’ to spend €100m on Michael Olise next summer.
The 23-year-old arrived at Crystal Palace in July 2024 for €60m. This season he’d already got five goals and six assists to his name.

Bayern are ready to offer a renewal to keep their player safe. The club’s director of football Max Eberl has spoken to SportBild directly about the player.
Bayern Munich considering Michael Olise renewal
Eberl is quoted as saying: “He will shape the future of this team. Michael has already made a lot of impressions in his first season. He’s a player fans come to the stadium to see; it’s simply fun to watch him play football.
“He still has over three and a half years of his contract, will increasingly become a decisive factor in FC Bayern’s game and shape the future of this team – if it’s up to us: the longer, the better.”
SportBild also state ‘Michael Olise is the biggest impression Eberl has made so far in his transfer activities at FC Bayern. That feels like some PR work for the director and is not unusual in Germany.
Whether this is all an effort from Eberl to hype his own renewal efforts is unclear, but it would appear that’s where the Liverpool claim is leaked from.
