Back in February, when Mexican youngster Santiago Munoz had his first start for Santos Laguna, Newcastle United made a joke by quoting the news and adding the eyes emoji.
The Magpies were clearly making a reference to the movie Goal, where the protagonist called Santiago Munez makes his way to the St. James Park with the tagline: ‘The Dream Begins’.
Now it turns out that the film’s script could be followed indeed, because according to reports from the Mexican media, Munoz is being negotiated with the Premier League side.
According to TUDN reporter Daniel Velasco, the striker is on his way to Newcastle on a one-year loan with an option to buy.
The journalist, of course, tweets Goal’s poster as a reference.
🚨¡LA HISTORIA SE VUELVE REALIDAD! 🚨

Velasco seems very certain about the move, even though TUDN’s website takes things a little more carefully by claiming the move is ‘about to get closed’, with ‘hours’ to go until the final agreement.
Munoz is 18 years old and only has 19 appearances for Santos Laguna’s first team so far, and with three goals and three assists, his potential has been getting big attention from the Mexican media.
TUDN adds that he’s been drawing Newcastle’s attention since the last season.
