After many reports in Italy claiming that Joao Cancelo had turned down Wolves in order to get a move to Juventus, the right-back gave an interview on Thursday where he clarified the situation.

Refuting those claims, the Valencia star revealed he wasn’t ruling out the option of going to Molineux this summer, even if he did prefer the idea of playing in the Champions League, having fought with Inter to qualify for the European competition.

With Valencia needing money to comply with FFP regulations, Cancelo represents their easiest route to that goal, and Jorge Mendes will obviously lend a hand.

Gazzetta dello Sport on Thursday, continuing with their previous claims he might try and force a move to Wolves, explain the super agent is actually now “intent” on moving his client to the Premier League for next season.

The Italian newspaper still state that option was ‘rejected’ by Cancelo, but we all now know that isn’t true.

After all, why wouldn’t an Italian newspaper lead their readers into thinking a potentially great signing would prefer to play for one of their local teams than for a newly promoted Premier League side?
