Liverpool’s chase for Sporting manager Ruben Amorim gets quite a strong update from the Portuguese media today.
Mais Futebol comes up to say that the coach has already been interviewed by the Reds.
It’s said that another meeting is now expected to take place this month, this time for Amorim ‘to sign a pre-contract’ with Liverpool.
Mais Futebol highlights that the interview took place as soon as the Reds sorted out their behind-the-scenes management with Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes.
It’s claimed that have Liverpool already said they’re willing to accept ‘all conditions’ asked by Amorim, including a long-term contract, and now need to negotiate with Sporting.
We must just point out that it’s not the entire Portuguese media who’s claiming that.
Earlier on Tuesday, newspaper Record had a big story claiming the coach is completely focused on the Lions and would not negotiate now.
Also, just after Mais Futebol’s article, journalist Pedro Sepulveda came up denying that there’s been direct contact betwen the coach and Liverpool, as only his agent is negotiating and there’s no agreement yet.
This rumour already feels like an arms race, with multiple blank shots fired in the hope of being perceived to be first.
