Christian Kouame to Crystal Palace is a story continuing to build in the Italian rumour mill.

Roy Hodgson’s side tried to sign the defender in the last winter window, with it being thought Palace were prepared to pay more than €20m to Genoa to make a move happened.

Genoa were content with what the Premier League club were offering but then the player picked up a cruciate issue and that killed the deal. Fiorentina decided to take a gamble and sign Kouame themselves, despite the injury, and they paid Genoa €11m plus a further €7m agreed in bonuses.

Things haven’t gone to plan and Kouame has failed to reach any level of prominence with the Tuscany club. That sees his future in doubt and is why Crystal Palace are being dragged back in.

Fiorentina News report La Viola will hold a meeting with the player’s entourage in a few days, presumably to decide where things go from here. With it stated Palace could be ‘lurking’ ahead of a transfer swoop, Fiorentina are trying to see how things stand with their player.
