Celtic defender Gustaf Lagerbielke is set to sign for SC Braga and will undergo a medical with the Portuguese club this week.

The Swedish centre-back spent last season at Dutch side FC Twente on a season long loan, during which he managed to make 32 appearances.

Lagerbielke performances at Twente earned him a return to the Swedish national team, but the Celtic owned player only got 10 minutes in an international friendly against Northern Ireland.

Sportbladet report Lagerbielke is a step away from playing football in Portugal next season, getting an opportunity with Braga who usually end up towards the top of the table.

The Swedish newspaper states a deal between Celtic and Braga is close to being agreed, and there appears to be a lot of optimism around the deal. As far as they have it, it’s only ‘details’ left to be agreed. Lagerbielke’s medical would be, then he will officially sign with Os Arsenalistas if all goes to plan in the coming days.

The 25-year-old joined Celtic from Swedish side IF Elfsborg in August 2023 for €3.4m.
