It appears that Tanguy Ndombele has now arrived in Italy after being reported as being on a plane to the south of Italy earlier on Thursday.

The Spurs midfielder has been a target for the Serie A side after it became clear that Fabian Ruiz would be heading to Paris Saint-Germain.

However, they cannot afford to buy him outright, which is why the idea of a loan with an option to buy was being discussed with Tottenham before being approved.

The idea is for the midfielder to spend the year in Italy, at which point Napoli will have to decide whether to pay the €30m or so to make the move permanent.

We’ll have to wait and see how the Tottenham midfielder adapts before that becomes a serious thought in Naples, but the final steps of his signing are currently taking place.

Gianluca Di Marzio took to Twitter around lunchtime on Thursday to explain that Ndombele’s ‘medical examinations begin now’.

Once those are done, the player is expected to sign his temporary Napoli contract, allowing him to spend the season away from Tottenham and Antonio Conte to get the game time he wouldn’t be given in London.

The player was also spotted arriving for the medicals, as shown by TuttoMercatoWeb.
