Antonio Conte decided to leave Tottenham after making ‘personal reflections’ and deciding that money wasn’t everything.
That’s according to agent Silvio Pagliari, who has been speaking to Tuttomercatoweb about Conte’s departure from Tottenham last week.
The Italian coach has brought his reign at Spurs to an end ahead of the end of his contract, which was due to expire in the summer.
The departure came after his outburst following the recent draw with Southampton, in which he questioned the mentality of his players and the club in general, insisting they did not have the right mindset to succeed.
He is now likely to return to Italy and take up a position there, having been linked with a return to former club Juventus since last year.
Pagliari certainly sees that happening, believing Conte wants to return to his homeland after analysing his life in London.
“I am of the opinion that he has made some personal reflections that all of us who have turned 50 do,” he said.
“I think he wants to coach in Italy and stay close to his family, because time passes for everyone. Maybe you get rich, but then you realise you’re away from your family. Let’s say he had a bit of saudade.”
