This week’s edition of SportBild has multiple articles with transfer claims relating to Premier League clubs. One of those manages to drag Aston Villa, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and Brighton into the race for the same player.
SportBild is the weekly magazine produced by Bild, Europe’s largest selling newspaper. They of course have good contacts at German clubs and with players’ camps, and love a transfer rumour.
Maximilian Beier is the young man involved this time, and SportBild report Aston Villa and Chelsea ‘are ahead’ of Liverpool, Brighton and Manchester United, with all five Premier League clubs said to hold an interest.
Those no indication of why those two clubs are ahead of the rest, or whether they’ve even made contact with the player’s camp or Hoffenheim.
The 21-year-old did well in his Euro 2024 cameo against Switzerland, and made something of a breakthrough with the German national team.
Last season he scored 16 goals and added three assists in 33 Bundesliga appearances.
SportBild explain Beier is on his well deserved holidays right now and is due to return to pre-season ‘at the end of July’, however, they also point out that’s only ‘if he is still there’.
As far as they have it, ‘the trend is towards England’. Beier is said to feel ready for such a transfer but is keen to be sure he’ll get a good amount of minutes if he does move.
Meanwhile, Hoffenheim need a sale to balance their accounts.
Over to Aston Villa, Chelsea, Brighton, Liverpool and Manchester United, in a race which – despite the SportBild claims – looks wide open right now.
